Word Processing

Word Processing is a great way to start using technology in the classroom. I use Microsoft WORD as our word processing program. With WORD I can develop lessons that cover all parts of the writing process. I have found as my knowledge on how to use WORD grows I find ways the new tools into writing assignments. WORD is like the backbone of my software tools.

Here are just a few ways I use the tools:

Ideas:  I create webs for students to use when collecting notes or brainstorming ideas for stories.

Life As A Sailor: This is a Web Created in WORD to use to gather information during a Web Lesson.

Organization:  On 5 paragraph essays the students use the highlight tool to find topic sentence and concluding sentences.

Word Choice :  I have learners use the highlight tools to highlight all descriptive words.

Conferencing:  I use the record comment tool to leave comments for my learners to improve their stories.

Word Count/Reading Level:  WORD can count the number of words written in a piece and gives a reading level.
