Finding An ePal Classroom

Locating a Teacher

This is the hardest part is locating a teacher that is committed to this process and understand the importance of having ePals in the classroom.
You want to find ePal connections that are safe and secure for your students.
I went through a couple of teachers prior to finding one that works with my style.
Look at the school next door, a cohort in a class you are taking or online. It is better to start with someone you know.

My Guidelines to Get Started

  • Start with one class
  • Select a teacher at your grade level or close
  • Through E-mail discuss how you might start building a connection to your students
  • Discuss things like how much time does the teacher have to do this project, how students will be e-mailing each other
  • Once the connection between the teacher has been establish start with a whole class E-mail to each other
  • If that works then have your students write intro letters and then have the ePal class respond.
  • Start with one E-mail back and forth
  • See how it goes and build from there
