Step 4:
Determine Tools and Indentify Skills

Select the Models to below to find out how to create  learning opportunities:

Read on to explore how each Model relates to a specifc Technology Standard and Integration Models

Step 3: Deciding the Integration Model

The Integration Model is the framework for how technology is integrated in the classroom. The model provides the guide for the teacher. Each model has a unique quality to offer. The teacher selects the model by how it relates to the curriculum focus and the technology standards.

When deciding the model ask:

What way will allow my learners to maximize learning?
    What is my comfort level?
How much time will it take me?

    Software Based Models
Word Processing  - Supports all stages of the writing process.
Publishing - The final step of the writing process - The learner publishes ideas for identified audiences
Presenting - The creation of a presentation which shows what has been learned.
Analyzing data  - Looking a data numerically to sort and graph
eFolio -  Electronic collection of student work and reflection of growth

    Information Resource Based
Web Visit - A short tour or introduction using electronic resources such as the WWW
WebByte - A one activity lesson using the WWW to introduce concept, build background or for practice
Web Lesson - A focused lesson to develop concepts in core areas such as Science or Social Studies
Web Investigation - A team project involving the solving of a problem, which uses multiple sources of the WWW in order to gather information to help determine the solution or answer.

    Email based
ePals - A collaborative exchange of data and information between paired students
Connections Project - The focus on exchange of data and information between classrooms

It is quite easy to break the models into the different technology standards.  Each of the models is slightly different and offers unique ways to accomplish the technology standards.  View the Models as related to the Technology Standards

After selecting the Integration Model to use, it is now time to look at what tools you will need to create the mdoels and what skills the students will need to accomlish the learning.

Move on to Step 4: Determining Tools and Skills

My use of models in my classroom

Reading
If I was working on locating answers to questions, read for key ideas
My Technology Standard is use technology to find information, build concepts, practice skills and strategies.
I would select a
WebByte

Writing
If I was working on 5 paragraph essay, creating topic sentences, stating main idea.
My Technology Standard is use technology to present ideas.
I would select
Word Processing.

Social Studies
If I was working on the cause of American Revolutionary War, independence, timelines,
My Technology standard is use technology to research, solve problems, and make decisions.
I would select Research Investigation

Math
If I was working on comparing data, graphing, mean, median, mode
My Technology Standard is use technology to find information, build concepts, practice skills and strategies.
I would select Graphing
