Communities of Learning

Teachers need to become a part of a great community. If a teacher starts connecting to other teachers outside of the classroom walls they will be more likely to have their students establish connections.

Join a community of learning. There are many types of these out there.   Currently communities of learning take place via a listserv.  That means you get email and can post email to a central address that goes to every that has joined that community.

Here are the ones I am a part of:

grade5@learningspace.org
If you are a 5th grade teacher and a Learning Space Member you can become a part of this listserv
Go to
www.learningspace.org to find out how to join.

WWWEDU The World Wide Web in Education List
A huge collection of educators on on this list. This was one of the first lists created.

Middle Web:  A listserv for middle school teachers.  This is a great one.  I learn a lot just from reading

T2T Teacher2Teacher from teachnet.com
This comes in a digest list you read through all the emails posted during the day.

Global School House Project Listserv
This allows me to read and post connections project announcements.
